This mid-century modern home has an outstanding architectural pedigree.
It was designed by Sanford Goldman, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright.
The property in St Petersburg, Florida was sold for $7.8 million.
"The house is an iconic piece of work", says Jason Maniecki, agent for All Pro Realty Network.
The house was built in 1964 and sits on a perch in the Brightwaters neighbourhood of Snell Island - an island with only 10 homes.
Homeowner Kevin Chadwick was a fan of Goldman.
"He was a renowned architect who actually studied with Wright - not just at the [Frank Lloyd Wright] Academy, but a 12-month apprenticeship," says Chadwick, who is also a real estate agent. He bought the house in 2010 for $1,063,000, according to Realtor.com®.
"The house was literally as old as 1964 and nothing had changed," Chadwick recalls.
He consulted Goldman before undertaking renovations, which included kitchen upgrades and replacing blue tiles with Jerusalem stone floors in neutral tones.
Many Floridians and Wright fans are aware of the local architect's modern work.
He has a couple of houses that are worth mentioning, too," says Chadwick.
The house features new appliances and kitchen cabinets from Bright Wood Works in Tampa.
Stacked stone walls and a floating staircase, both classic mid-century modern elements, were used in the design of the house.
There are four bedrooms and 4.5 baths, and the main suite on the first floor has a soaking tub and private terrace, giving it a luxurious feel.
Downstairs, the spacious living room is connected to the outdoor pool via a glass partition - perfect for seamless entertaining.
The house also includes a bonus room that can be used as a gym or office.
"The footprint of the house is exactly how it was when [Goldman] built it," says Chadwick." All of the craftsmanship and woodwork is original. The moment you step into the house, [you see] the artistry of it. You know it's a special house."
The house is within easy driving (or boating) distance of the Salvador Dali Museum, the Chihuly Collection, the St. Pete Pier and plenty of shops and restaurants.
