Abstract: Casino magnate Steve Wynn is selling his sprawling property in Ketchum, Idaho, for $27 million. The sky-high price tag makes it the most expensive property in the state.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the 81-year-old has been slowly selling off his personal $300 million real estate portfolio - from a $78.5 million property in Palm Beach, Florida, to a $90 million penthouse in New York City.

Last year, he unloaded his Las Vegas, Nevada, home for $17.5 million and another of his beachfront properties in Palm Beach for $32 million.

As for the large Idaho compound, the property sits on two parcels of land totalling four acres. The main house on one parcel was originally built in 1986 and the guesthouse on the second parcel was built in 1979.

This magnificent hillside retreat has 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms on 15,453 square feet of land.

The casino mogul purchased the home in 2009 and essentially rebuilt the entire place in 2014, according to Sue Engelmann, listing agent for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Sun Valley Realty.

"When Steve bought the property, it was a traditional mountain home with a lot of dark wood," Engelmann said." Not only did he add to the house, but he made its interior brighter. Windows were opened up and everything was replaced with light-coloured interiors. It was a substantial overhaul, and he added two other wings to it. In 2021, he also added a swimming pool and spa".

The main house has six 'hotel grade' en-suite bedrooms; a massage room; gym; catering kitchen; and media room. The great room has a cathedral ceiling and a soaring floor-to-ceiling window with spectacular mountain views.

The nearby bar has built-in inserts, a cosy fireplace and a wall of windows. The open plan kitchen has exposed wood beamed ceilings, high end appliances and a large granite centre island.

"The property is very private, but also very close to town," Engelmann notes." It borders 16 acres of land owned by the association, so it is all about open space."

The mansion's beyond-luxury amenities give the feeling of being at home on holiday.

"The house itself," says Engelmann, "is like staying at the Wynn, from the double toilets in every bathroom to the slippers and robes." He has museum-quality lighting to showcase his art. The pool even has a lane light so you can swim at night. Every detail was considered during the renovation."

A floating, glowing, curved staircase leads to a spectacular master suite with a fireplace, extra-long vanity, a walk-in closet, and sliders leading to a private terrace.

"The entire house runs on a Crestron system - lighting, blinds, fireplace, security, audio-visual and more - and can be controlled remotely," says Engelmann.

As for who will buy the spectacular house, she says: "I think the next owners might be people with adult children or grandchildren who might want to build extended family next door. We have some people who want to buy the guesthouse separately, but Steve wants the person who buys the main house to have the opportunity to buy the adjoining land.
